Nottingham Forest are expected to lose one of its players permanently this summer as the club seeks to balance its books.
Survival in the Premier League will ensure that Nottingham Forest continue to generate top-tier revenue at the City Ground for at least another season.
However, Nuno Espirito Santo will have to part ways with some of his players this month in order for Forest to avoid any further FFP breaches before the June 30 deadline.
Players such as Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo have been linked with departures this summer, with Forest reportedly valuing the pair higher than the £47.5 million they sold Brennan Johnson for last summer.
However, one player will undoubtedly leave Forest this month, with his loan club deciding to make his stay permanent.
Forest set to lose a £30 million player this summer.
Since Forest’s return to the top division, there has been tremendous player turnover at the club, with Evangelos Marinakis providing strong support to his managers.
However, it appears that one of the players that came following their elevation to the Premier League may have already left permanently.
Forest were forced to sell Johnson to Spurs last summer, and the agreement provided the club with a significant cash return.
However, Orel Mangala, who left Forest on a half-season loan to Lyon last summer, will now face a decision about his future at the club.
According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Mangala will not return to Forest after Lyon made his loan deal permanent this summer.
Mangala’s contract with Lyon runs until 2027, but according to the report, the French club could attempt to benefit from the midfielder, with a summer transfer possibly feasible.
The Athletic previously reported that the deal to take Mangala permanently to Lyon will net Forest up to £30 million this summer.
Forest making a good profit on Orel Mangala this summer.
Mangala joined Forest from Stuttgart in 2022 for £10.5 million, and he has since made 53 appearances for the club.
Even this season, the Belgian has 22 appearances for Forest in the Premier League and FA Cup.
The midfielder is likely to feature for Belgium in the Euros this summer and might earn a much larger move in the following months.
Given Forest’s situation with FFP this month, a profit of about £20 million on Mangala may go a long way.
However, it will be frustrating to watch if Lyon can profit from the Belgian this summer.
