Patrick Bamford covered more ground in January’s triumph over Norwich City than in any previous game in his Leeds United career.
Patrick Bamford has had a fantastic return to form in recent weeks. Many of us had written the 30-year-old off following a horrible couple of years.
Bamford was out for an extended period of time due to an injury. And he only scored four league goals last season.
Patrick Bamford made a stunning achievement in the last Leeds triumph.
The England international had to be patient this season, as players like Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe proved unstoppable in the early rounds.
However, since returning to the club on a more regular basis, Bamford has been outstanding, scoring five goals in his past nine outings across all competitions. Of course, this includes the FA Cup strike against Peterborough United.
Crucially, four of those goals have broken ties in games. And it appears that Bamford is regaining his best form.
According to The Athletic, Bamford sprinted further in Leeds’ 1-0 victory over Norwich in late January than in any previous game in his career. He covered over 12 kilometers in his victory.
According to the source, this is a fantastic achievement given Bamford’s importance to Marcelo Bielsa’s team.
Strikers provide a major boost in the promotion chase.
Bamford’s tireless work for the team frequently compensated for his wastefulness in front of goal, particularly during the campaign in which we last won promotion. Ultimately, the £10 million star may have scored more than 20 goals that season.
So seeing him now covering more distance is incredible, especially given how difficult it must have been to push a body that had previously let him down multiple times.
It still feels risky to get carried away. However, many of us are being forced to retract our past statements concerning Bamford.
We couldn’t be happier!
